Hi guys
Merry Christmas

So I've EBF my baby girl who is 4months old. I've just started expressing recently to try and start leaving her with my MIL and my mother in readiness for going back to work.

My HV and my best friend's HV says I don't need to sterilise bottles and breast pump as it's breast milk, just hot soapy disappear water. Just wondering if anyone follows this advice as everywhere I have read it says to sterilise?

My little girl is 4 MO and she's a strong healthy baby, good weight, hasn't been poorly. I'm a believer in not over cleaning as it's good for immune systems. I suppose I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are?

Thanks

It’s fine because even if there was bacteria/virus the breast milk attacks them. If you leave a bottle of bm out for 6 hours there would be less bacteria at the end then the start unlike formula which perfect for bacteria to grow in.

I washed in hot soapy water then under boiling water - I was happy with this

Yeah, advice in Scotland is hot soapy water is enough.
