Hi mummies!

I'm looking for some advice on formula.

I'm breastfeeing my three month old girl, but would like her to be able to take some formula while I'm away(I express into bottles but it's exhausting!)

We've tried Aptamil and Cow & Gate, and both mke her very sick. She vomits her entire guts up, right down to the bile, around 10 minutes after she takes either formula and is very sleep and unwell afterwards. Powdered formula, not ready made.

We took her to the GP, and shesaid she can't be lactose intolerant. There are no other signs, and I eat and drink dairy...has anyoneelse exprienced anything like this? Or can anyone recommend some gentle formulas for breastfed babies that might not unsettle her stomach?

Thanks so much!xx

Could be issue with cows milk protein rather than lactose which is the sugar in both breast and cows milk. Did they not think of cows milk protein being an issue?

I think pp is correct probably cmpa.

NotSoThinLizzy · 07/12/2019 22:28

Even with cmpa it would happen with breastfeeding? Could it be wind? Mabye taking the bottle to quick?

Depends how sensitive they are to cows milk protein. It's a big difference between traces in breastmilk and having a bottle of it

My eldest breastfed and had CMPA. We didn't find out until she was 6 months and started eating. She had some subtle symptoms when only breastfeeding (lots of poos and eczema) but it was only obvious when she had it directly.

I'm not lactose intolerant but I do have as dairy intolerance, there are other parts of the milk that my body can't tolerate.

The amount of cows milk protein in breastmilk is tiny whereas formula is made from cows milk.
