7 week old refusing breast and sleeping more

7 week old has been feeding fine despite strong letdown and possible over supply. My breasts fill up quickly after feeds. We’re ebf.

This week just into her 7th week she’s now really cranky and tired and has dropped her feeding choosing sleep over feeds or crying.

Thought she might be going through growth spurt around this time expecting increase in feeds but she’s just sleeping. Even when I wake her to feed she refuses the breast. She’s not done this before so bit worrying.

Has anyone experienced something similar and how was it resolved?

This sounds stressful OP. We are just bumping this in the hope someone can help you out (though we would also say please do get any concerns checked out by medical professional).

How l many feeds has she had in the last 24 hours? Has she had 5 or more wet nappies?

She’s had 5 feeds since 6 this morning, normally she would have had lots more. She’s had about 5 wet nappies which is a good sign.

Searching through various websites on the internet, it seems like she might be going through a growth spurt which can mean more sleep. Also she might be at the stage when she feeds less frequently, going longer without needing a feed because her stomach has grown. It’s just a surprise when she’s been feeding so often and now reduced.

Will see how she is tonight and will call GP tomorrow morning if she’s not doing great.

Thank you for replies.
