How can I wean her off?

DD now nearly 13 months and while I am happy to continue bfing I really wish she would cut down! She really uses me like a snack bar, a quick 5 mns slurp here, another 10 mins there. I would love just to do full feeds am and pm but she still likes to bf on and off all day. She certainly doesn't need the milk and I accept that it's a comfort thing some of the time but sometimes she just 'fancies it' and it's flipping inconvenient!

Tried distraction with limited effects, occasionally she will have a snack instead. What else can I do to try and wean her off slowly or if not weaned off fully, move her on from this quick top up feeds.

Be strong and don't give in. Otherwise she'll be helping herself soon at the most inconvenient times. If DD has had a feed in the last hour logically you know she doesn't need one again, so don't give in to her. Bung her in the pushchair and go for a walk if she pays up.

And maybe set her certain times when she can feed such as morning, after lunch, after dinner. In between give her a drink froma cup. Like everything else with babies, they are cleverer than they look but they can be trained (sorry to make them sound like a dog ).

At her age she shouldn't really need much should she? I thought I could do on waking, before nursery and return from nursery and bed. That's 4 big feeds and I can cope with that.

Think I will just have to follow your suggestions and not give in during the day. it will mean putting up with a full on tantrum but I guess it will have to be done.

Aye, she might throw a wobbly, but remember they are your boobs, not hers and you're the boss, not her.
Good luck, I'll be thinking of you.
