My DS is four and a half weeks old and is exclusively BF. He has kind of got into a pattern of feeding 1.5-3hrly both during the day and night. He feeds really well and is piling on the weight.

The past four nights though he has got to 4am and then feeds hourly until around 11am when he eventually falls asleep. The night before last he was feeding hourly from 11pm to 7am which was an absolute killer(exhausted emoticon!!!) He is generally contented apart from during these feeding frenzies when he is not easily settled and grumpy.

I am just wodering if this is a growth spurt as the extra sucking has certainly sent my supply WAY up. Shall I just go with the flow and hope it will pass? Help and advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Melody
It certainly sounds like a growth spurt.
They seem to be common at about 4 weeks.
It's really hard work and tiring for you to be feeding every hour, but if you can stand to see it through, he should settle down again soon.
It's great that your supply has increased to keep him satisfied and that he settles between the feeds.
Make sure you get as much rest as you can while he sleeps and don't push yourself too hard to do other stuff.
You're doing really well!!
