and do you put it in a bowl of boiling water or just warm tap water
ive been trying to warm it up and baby didnt like it at all last night because i think it was too cold but im scared of making it too warm .i know you can temp check it by splashing it on your wrist by i hate spilling a drop as these 2floz could me an hour to express!

you MUST check by splashing on your arm, its the only way

I'd say after 30 seconds or so, get it out dry it and fele withyour hand, try to work out if the milk is warm rather than the bottle

its hard becuase I never really kept watch of the time, I just sort of guessed and ended up right, or plunging it into cold water to rapidly cool it down!!

I do sympathise, I never got hte hang of expressing - just the tiniest drops GAH

im trying to get enough so one night i could perhaps have the night off [ wow what a great thought]
but i had 2 expressing sessions yesterday and only got one lot of 2 oz and one lot of half oz

agree mamag - put bottle in a jug of boiling water. Take the bottle out, SHAKE IT, and then feel the temperature. If you don't shake it, the coldest milk stays in the middle, iyswim.

I can't remember how long for though and I guess it depends how cold the milk is to start with.

pregnantbabyelephant - do you need to change your name?

It's 4 years since I express fed a baby but I would probably have left about 8oz in one bottle to be 'decanted' into feed bottles as required. That would have covered my DS for a full evening out (7pm to midnight). Mind you, he had reflux so he'd throw up and then need to be fed again. And again. Etc.
