Dear kaftan wearing, unshaven, breastbeating brigade...come and have a chamomile tea...I'm just opening my post..a bit late today..oh what is this??? Why it is a letter from the Advertising Standards Authority.

Basically, they can't take any action regarding the illegal product placement of SMA bottle in OK magazine as they "cannot investigate issues relating to editorial material". Oh that is a blow to breastfeeding!

But they have passed the complaint to Buckinghamshire County Council Trading Standards. Very good of them.

And they suggest contacting the Press Complaints Commission www.pcc.org.uk or the editor of OK magazine (Ha, ha, ha...I have already done that but they haven't e-mailed back yet)

So there we are....walnut cake anyone????

(by the way, there was a double page spread of Jordan completely off her face in a nightclub. and apparently trying to make herself sick in the toilets by sticking her fingers down her throat. oh and apparently Peter is out of the country and furious
I may need help to rid me of this OK addition

harpsichordcarrier · 17/08/2007 19:54

hmmmm yes but if it amounts to an advert then it isn't just an article is it?
surely they can deal with product placement??

yes and apparently she said to the loo attendant, don't worry if I'm sick, I will clear it up, I'm used to it I am always covered in shit.
oh and she got into a fight with someone called Caprice. whoever she is

harpsichordcarrier · 17/08/2007 19:58

pah.
what kind of anarchist are you?
I imagine it isn't as clear cut as that, I imagine there is some room for interpretation.
I suspect the ASA just don't want to get involved. too tricky for them. I expect they are scared of Peter Andre

lol Pruners at the picture there....
the problem is, if SMA gets around this whole thing, then we will see loads of articles like that, in the future....there is nothing stopping any of the other companies to follow suit

I don't buy them or anything but I looked at the article last week in Sainsburys and then this week I was drawn to look at it again
is it a slippery slope do you think

milkmummy1 · 26/08/2007 21:05

dont know if anyone has read NEW magazine this week but there is an artice about BF,compliled following jordans rec!ent comments about BF and it is entitled 'Is breast really best?'. it outlines the positives and the negatives of BF but doesnt exaclty conclude that it is best!!! ahhhh

Meglet · 26/08/2007 21:32

Difers, got my letter from ASA last week with the same reponse. I promise I will contact the press complaints commission too. Had meant to do it already .

I never heard back from OK either.

ruddynorah · 26/08/2007 21:34

i got the same response too. i had thought the asa would be the ones to deal with product placement...clearly not.

Pannacotta · 26/08/2007 21:35

Me too, ie same response from ASA and nothing from OK

southeastastra · 26/08/2007 21:36

i saw the pic and the (massive) product endorsement but how much do you want to censor? the magazines are paid to do this so why not?

Difers · 27/08/2007 15:02

Don't bother to complain to the Press Complaints Commission I did and they said that Their Code of Conduct had not been broken so no grounds for compliant.
