said a woman to me at the GP's while we all sat around waiting for our DC to have their vaccinations. She then proceeded to tell me that her DD, who was 4 1/2 months, was weaned (haviing 1/2 jar of baby food a day) and that was why she was sleeping through the night.
Wasn't really sure what to say to her really. Although it struck me as quite sad that she would have like to continue BF'ing (she'd actually been mix-feeding) longer but was worried about being bitten (apparently her DD likes to "chomp" once she's finished fer feed and mid feed sometimes).
Although I guess it was a bit like closing the stable door after the horse had bolted I did managed to explain (I think) that having teeth doesn't mean you have to stop feeding them and that DS1 only bit me 2 times (he never did it again after I yanked him off doulbe quick whilst yelping ). Didn't know if I'd said that wrong thing telling her now that she didn't need to stop.
Also I really wanted to tell her that 1/2jar of food was not going to be helping her DD sleep through.....she would probably have done that anyhow. (I wouldn't have said anything about early weaning as I weaned both DS1 and 2 at 4 onths - and with DS2 I knew the guidelines ).
I think this must be the "power" of MN creeping over me as usually I'd just have kept my mouth shut.
