Which nipple cream?

FTM here and booked in for a CS next week at 37 weeks (due to PPROM and breech - it seems I'm carrying an awkward little bugger!) and so am trying to get everything prepared on the double quick as I was expecting to have a few more weeks to sort these things out!

I am totally befuddled with the different options out there so would really appreciate any recommendations on this.

Just been on the Boots website and can see 4 different options for nipple cream:

Essentiel Vie Nipple Cream
Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream
Multi-Mam Balm
Weleda Nipple Balm

All appear to not contain any nasties (important to me!) and you don't need to remove them prior to feeding.

I can't remember which one I bought but I remember one tip from my local breast feeding counsellor - use the stuff very sparingly! The skin needs to breathe. If you slap it on with every feed you may develop problems. Good luck.

Lanisoh as it can be used on your lips too if you need gas and air (causes dry lips).

I've been using Lansinoh because it's the one that's available everywhere. Perfect if you can't get to the shops and need to do a Tesco/ASDA/wherever online grocery order (which I did because I had to have a CS, too, and DH doesn't drive, and even after I could drive, I found it hard to walk long enough/fast enough to go around the supermarket and do a full shop until DS was about 8 weeks old). I'm also using multi-mam compresses which I'm not sure how I feel about. They make you feel like you're doing something about your sore nipples, but I'm not sure they're very effective for me. I also have used ice cubes wrapped in kitchen roll when it gets really bad (take the lanolin off first).

Lansinoh. Not cheap but lasts for ages, and as a PP said it's a great lip balm too.

I always found coconut oil helpful or Weleda.

Lansinoh definitely! Use sparingly before and after every feed. Also good for baby's lips if they get a bit dry.

Thank you for the recommendations! I've just been and got some of the Weleda one as it was on offer at Boots but I am guessing that I will probably be trying the others at some point too! Going to have a go with it later as I've started collecting colostrum.

Has anyone tired the superdrug nipple cream?! it’s only 99p which seems to cheap to be any good!
