Reusable breast pads?

Does anyone have recommendations for reusable breast pads? There seems to be quite a lot of choice!

Also - a possibly daft question - do you always need pads, or do things settle down at some point? DD is only 6 days old at everything is still very leaky! Not sure if it settles down once she's not feeding all the time?

I got a cheap bamboo set off amazon, they did a good job and washed well.
It definitely settles down. Mine were like bloody geysers for the first few weeks but by about 8 weeks I didn't need to wear them (always kept an emergency set in the changing bag though!)

I got ones from asda, but they didn't work very well. But then, I was having to use breast pads for a good year because I produced so much milk. In some cases I leaked through badly and had to change tops in less than an hour.

Silicon ones are great. Wash off and stop stop the leaks, 'stick' to your skin so aren't noticeable

I used the reusable ones from Asda and I thought they were good but I didn’t leak massive amounts

I use Little Lamb ones.

With my eldest I only needed them a month or two. My youngest is seven months old and I still really really need them!

I also got some bamboo ones of Amazon. In terms of absorbtion and washing I'm happy with them but it seems to be a one size fits all and as I have quite small boobs the pads are bigger than the cups of my bra I have to readjust so I don't have them causing lumps and bumps. Wouldn't reccommend if you have a small chest. My son is 5.5 months and I tend to only use them at night now when he goes longer without feeding.

I got bamboo ones from Amazon. They're lovely and still very soft (9 months in). I haven't needed them from a leaking perspective for months but I just find them softer than the inside of a bra and if my little one dribbles a little then my bra doesn't get wet. I've been recommending them to all my pregnant friends for the last 9 months!!

Another bamboo from Amazon user here! I found I stopped leaking when feeds reduced significantly and my supply adjusted accordingly, which, for my little chunk, wasn't until he started weaning at 6mo. Had another leaky phase at 12mo when I returned to work and had to cut all day feeds completely.

I leaked LOADS and they only failed me on the rare occasion dd slept through and my boobs literally exploded in my sleep!

Lots of pre-loved ones on eBay. I bought mine on eBay and sold them on again, two babies and 6 years of breast feeding later, at a nearly new sale.
Always use a laundry bag when washing, though. I had to call washing machine repair person twice on account of stuck pads.

Have ordered the Amazon ones

I got a load of bamboo ones off eBay really cheap which wash and tumble dry really well.

Ds is 4 months and I still wear them daily. I’ve got 8 pairs of reusable and a box of disposable in case I don’t keep on top of my laundry!

Those of you using reusable ones, how many did you need to use per day - trying to work out how many I'd need to buy? As a soon to be FTM I have absolutely no idea about any of this, but I'm thinking of getting some shortly so that I am prepared!

I've got 12 pairs of reusable and normally use 2 pairs per day but at the beginning you might find that you have to change the pads more regularly until the milk supply regulates itsself.

I always had to use pads so just buy loads!! I wore them for 14-15 months. And make sure you have a little laundry net to keep them together or you'll be cursing!

I wouldn't overthink it, machine washable on hot wash are the key features!

I bought lovely reusable ones and didn't need them at all!!! I produced enough for my 98th centile hungry baby but apparently no more!

Close.pop in ones are the best. I have mega milk and needed them for a year

I leaked from the opposite breast every time I fed for the whole year I was feeding for. Now I feel like a freak 😂

@Weathergirl1 breast shells might be worth looking at for the early days - they collect the milk rather than soaking through loads of pads, and give your nipples a bit of space/air for healing

I never stopped leaking until about two weeks after I stopped breastfeeding. I used reusable pads at night but needed the plastic backed ones during the day to make sure I didn't leak through.

I'm thinking of getting some reusable ones to use now as I am starting to notice a little bit of discharge already!

I mean, they'll give you odd lumps so not great for out and about but fine for round the house (and you can keep any milk you collect if you're planning to bottle feed as well).

Not sure about those silicon ones, the info suggests they work by applying pressure to stop leakage, but pressure on lactating breasts is normally a good way of getting blockages.
