Hi everyone. We have a 5-week old who got diagnosed with an anterior tongue tie and an upper lip tie. We had a tongue tie snip 2 weeks ago - that's when the midwife noticed the lip tie. She didn't seem to think the lip tie was a major problem but as time goes by we think it might be. Our baby has always struggled with trapped wind and gas, as well as an irritating clicking noise that she makes when she feeds (with both breast and bottle). The snip of the tongue has helped somewhat - her tongue is more flexible, but the clicking noise has not gone away. I exclusively breastfeed and she has been putting on weight nicely, so that's not a problem, but I imagine the colic issues are exacerbated by the lip tie. I haven't experienced much pain feeding, but I do struggle to get into comfortable positions. Her mouth is very small and she struggles to latch properly, I literally have to shove the boob into her mouth and it only works at certain angles, which is starting to take its toll on my back.
To cut the long story short, we're considering having a lip tie surgery. Has anyone done it for their baby? Would you recommend it? Is it more painful than a tongue tie? Has it solved your issues?
