Breastfeeding advice needed

Almost 8 week old, low weight gain and latch issues which we are working on but my question is before baby feeds I would feel a tingly ache sensation and breasts go hard but then before I even get to latch baby on I find they are soft.

Is this normal?

I think this sounds within the spectrum of normal; having hard breasts before a feed isn't the indicator that they are 'full' / you're producing sufficient milk if that's what you are concerned about? Most likely, your breasts will be producing milk as your baby demands it.

Are you getting some good support with the latch?

Thanks! Yes I feel I've seen the whole world and his mother about latch!

The tingly ache/breasts getting hard sensation you describe is exactly what I get just before my milk ‘let down’. If I have baby to hand and ready for a feed then he gets milk more quickly. If for whatever reason I’m not ready to feed him right then, I usually press on my breasts to stop any leaks. Either way, they go soft immediately after the initial milk release.

So, sounds pretty normal to me!
