Breastfed baby will only feed when tired

For the last few weeks my exclusively breastfed 15 week old will only feed when tired and then falls asleep feeding. When a feed is offered when awake/alert he will latch and when milk starts to let down he pulls off and cries a little and refuses to have any more for a few minutes then repeats. Can anyone offer any advice?

I think for 15 weeks that's not completely unusual. Are you able to track time spent sleeping, awake and feeding. General rule of thumb is nap, play, feed, repeat, with time spent awake and playing increasing. Night time ideally sleep and feed only (obvs!)

Can I ask how things are now? I'm in a similar situation. Can only feed when sleepy or asleep.

@jpeg32 still the same, although I think that is just his routine now and gets hungry just before nap/sleep time. Now the problem is he will only go to sleep being fed and I don't know how to change it.
