What does your toddler call breastmilk?

Just melting at my ds (16m) word for a feed, saying in a disgruntled voice ‘dood da’ and then giving a little happy chuckle when I get ready to feed him.

Very soft and unmumsnetty thread but what do yours call a feed?

Beebee Smile

HarrietM87 · 06/09/2019 23:06

Meeno. No idea why!

Samosaurus · 06/09/2019 23:10

Mine used to call it 'mulk' too! Cows milk was definitely 'milk' so not a problem pronouncing the word!

Bawdrip · 06/09/2019 23:12

Feedy. No idea why.

Sux2buthen · 06/09/2019 23:13

My son called it baboom (don't know why but that was my favourite one lol). That then changed to just 'bum'. Again, no idea why
My daughter went with boo boo
And our newest family member can't talk yet so I don't know.

MrsNotNice · 06/09/2019 23:13

Yoya! Donno why

Nameisthegame · 06/09/2019 23:13

@RebornFlame that’s hilarious 😂 little drama llama!
I think she accepted bed and boobies because 1.it sounds good and 2.she knows if she says bed please, boobie bed and she won’t be distracted she gets it... we are slowly moving away from it as nursery doesn’t allow bottles for naps.

Nameisthegame · 06/09/2019 23:14

Do you say doo da then like layta? Then later? Haha mum things can’t stop mum talk lol

Mine fed til 4.5 years. He called it mummy milk. He's right now and still refers to breast as 'mummy milks'. So funny! An example: he was describing none of his friends to me and said 'he's about as tall as your mummy milks'. Utterly adorable.

wibbletooth · 06/09/2019 23:38

ds2 was milk or milky - but when he was about 4 or 5 I was helping him after his bath and getting ready for bed and doing silly games as we went - like let's dry your arm/elbow/little toe/nose as a way of doing body parts and he suddenly said next let's dry my milkies and proceeded to dry his nipples.

I was really surprised because he'd long stopped breast feeding by then, and whenever I'd said it's time for milk/milky asked if he wanted milk/milky in my mind I'd always been asking if he wanted a drink. I'd never asked him if he wanted boob or nipple etc because I thought of it as giving him a drink rather than a body part if you see what I mean... But obviously he had assumed that's what they were called and thought of them as.Grin

Booba booba BOOBA! Complete with rhythmic upward fist punching / air punching actions

Sizeofalentil · 07/09/2019 06:49

When she wants the other 'booba' she asks for 'twooba' 😂

Sewingbea · 07/09/2019 06:59

My DD1 said "side" too. It's many years since she weaned but I think I'll always remember that "side" was one of her first words. DD2 just used to demand "meee-ilk"

RiddleyW · 07/09/2019 07:08

My DS never really had a word for it which is weird as he fed until over two. He just used the baby sign for milk - often both fists going in a frantic milking parlour style.

brittlestar · 07/09/2019 07:10

Boo boo

Orangedaisy · 07/09/2019 07:12

Bub bub. And asks for the other side. 2.5.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 07/09/2019 07:12

DD bf until 4 yes. When she was younger she called it 'nulk', her pronunciation of milk. Think because I used to say do you want some milk.

When she got more verbal she would be very specific - I want milk from you mummy, not in a cup!

MissBPotter · 07/09/2019 07:16

DD called it side as well, or other side! Sometimes she would say boobie milk as well Smile

northdownmummy · 07/09/2019 07:18

My DD calls it milky cuddles....adorable

BibbityBobbityBastards · 07/09/2019 10:40

My boys called it numnums. I miss our num num cuddles.

Loveabiscuit · 07/09/2019 10:46

My little boy called it booby mint and at 4 has only just stopped saying mint. 😊

WipeYourFeet · 07/09/2019 10:53

Aww this is lovely
My DS used to call it Buckie and his little sister called it/them Boo-gah. She's 5 now and while she's no longer feeding she like to have Boogah cuddles

Jamhandprints · 07/09/2019 14:39

@mwmw that's sad, why would you stop so soon if it's going well? 2 years is the recommended time but lots do it for even longer. If you keep breast feeding you don't have to worry about a bottle, baby can use a sippy cup if needed.

GummyGoddess · 07/09/2019 14:46

Dc1 did the sign for milk when he was little but now says nilky nilks even though he can pronounce 'm'.

Dc2 just puts his hands on my top and drops to use his full 2 stone of body weight to yank my top down in public. Dc1 no longer feeds but is insistent that he holds one nilky nilk while dc2 has the other, then gets possessive over it and angry if dc2 dares to look at it!

mwmw · 07/09/2019 15:27

jamhandprints I think just pressures from family/friends and comments. I just assumed 6 months was the go to age really but I'm pleased to have found this post!
