3 week old EBF, one really sore boob, only slightly red, been sore all day but tried feeding through it but suddenly feel like I've been hit by a train. Flu like symptoms. Sad

It could be esp if you're feeling a bit generally rotten. Call the GP for an urgent appointment so they can check you out. If it is mastitis you will likely need some antibiotics. The other option is a blocked duct but you don't usually feel unwell on yourself with that. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

Yeah definitely sounds suspect. First priority rest (as much as is possible with a newborn), fluids and ring GP first thing in the morning. Possibly even consider ringing out of hours now. You can be prescribed breastfeeding friendly antibiotics.

For now cold compress on the sore boob (wet a nappy and freeze it) and try to feed/express off it as much as you can bear. If you can locate the lump and try to position yourself so baby's lower jaw points towards it, that also helps. Warm compress just before a feed/express will help to get the milk flowing.

Hey, hope your mastitis clears quickly & with fewer complications than mine! thankfully flu like symptoms went quickly. No one seems to have reported anything like it... I wonder if anyone can help?
There is a big, hard section on both breasts, deep in, sort of circular around the areolaе, two finger width all the way round though feels harder pressed from the top. Not much pain to be honest which is a saving grace, although there is occasional throbbing in specific sections around the edges. Have been using nipple shields because of nipple damage since a month ago which I know might be preventing clearing but i have not seen one bit shifted with massaging either, despite diligence and desperation, using hot showers.
Anyone else had these symptoms? Been treated with flucloxacillin, now doctor has prescribed treatment for thrush as well as new antibiotics - but there is very little information about ductal thrush online and I'm not sure I have enough pain for it to be that! I do think nipples may be healing a bit faster from damage now with treatment and the miconazole does make them sort of tingle. Baby's nappy rash also responding well to thrush cream. But still no shifting of these blockages on day 5 of this new treatment... and a month into overall symptoms :(
So glad that I don't need to take painkillers or anything but I do wonder if it's contributing to latch issues and overactive letdown. Has a posterior tongue tie cut today but weaning off the nipple shields hasn't been instantly remedied. Baby too used to pointy shapes...
If anyone has advice would love this! Thanks :) xx
