Tongue tie and bf

Hi

My baby is 8 days old and it's only been noticed he has tongue tie. I bottle feed him but also try breast in between feeds to give him a top up and get the goodness into him. He finds it hard to latch on, so I purchased the Haakkaa pump and wondered how people use this? Does he have to be on one breast whilst the pump is on the other?? Or can I just have the pump attached? So confused with it all.

I had the same issue with my daughter, she had a tongue tie and would not latch at all to begin with. I feel your pain, it is so difficult to get going but persevere, you will get there!

I have used a Haakaa on its own and while feeding on the other side. I definitely get more milk if I use it while feeding, I think it is due to the stimulation. If using on it's own you could try hand expressing first to get your milk going, then while it's attached hand express on the other side for stimulation.
