Has anyone hired the Medela symphony?

Hi all, I'm BF my 7 week old baby but he has such a huge appetite and would stay on me all day if I let him. I've also been using the medela swing to express and it takes about 30 - 45 min on each side to get about 5oz out each breast.

I'm thinking of hiring the medela symphony so I can express both sides and save a bit of time through the day. Does anyone have experience of this pump, is it worth the money? (£47 a month). Thanks!

Yes but 11 years ago when DD was in SCBU. It was the same they had there, but I'd get most milk off first thing in the morning so made sense to have one at home.

I cut holes in a cheap sleep bra so i could hold the pump in place and have my hands free to drink a cuppa / read a book. Found it a lot easier to get the hind milk off too.

Yep, I’ve had this on hire since I went back to work in January. I keep it in my office, only takes 15-20 mins to pump a decent amount. It’s been a lifesaver and meant that I can continue breastfeeding whilst working full time

Yes. It's great. Quiet and quick. Check out "hands on" pumping on the Stanford uni website too to maximise amount you get out + check the flanges are the right size for your nipple. It comes with their standard size ones.

Hi I used it with my first baby as I wasn't able to breastfeed so exclusively expressed for 14 months with her. I first had the Medela swing but switched to the symphony at around 4 weeks. It's a real game changer! My milk increased trifold (something about double pumps increased your supply) and obviously so much quicker doing both at same time. Without it i wouldn't have been able to continue pumping.

Also meant to say that I bought mine on eBay.com for around $300 including shipping, then just converted the plug to UK one. Worked perfectly.

I had both the swing and symphony, and in my experience the hospital grade pump made no difference in terms of quantity or time.

Just to add, it was the swing maxi double pump I had.

Thanks everyone, I've ended up buying a bellababy double pump off amazon for £40 and I'm really impressed with it. Seems to get more milk out and is quicker than the medela swing I was using.
