Has anyone treated thrush easily?

Me and DD (4 weeks old) have been diagnosed with thrush. Hers isn’t too bad, just a thin layer on her tongue, and I don’t have any pain or itching. But after googling it, all I can find are horror stories of people spending weeks and weeks in pain trying everything to get rid of it.

This is the exception right? Most people will just use the cream for them and the oral liquid for baby and then will be fine??

Afraid it took me weeks and weeks, I suspect as we kept reinfecting each other . The cream I was given just wasn't enough - what worked in the end were tablets (lower dose than normal taken over quite a few days). For DS, the first liquid (Nystatin) we were given wasn't very effective and they made us try about 3 bottles of it over more than 3 weeks before they'd prescribe Daktarin gel which worked. If the GPs we saw had been willing to move on to something else more quickly when the first treatment didn't work, it would have been over much more quickly.

Yes really easily. Was diagnosed at ooh gp. Prescribed 10 or 14 days of thrush tablets for me and cream. For toddler the liquid. We were both fine after a few days but obviously finished the course of medicine

I was told the prescription guidelines had changed ( the gp went to look them up) and tablets are now recommended.

My GP was a bit clueless - she said I didn’t even need treating and wouldn’t prescribe anything so I bought the cream (daktarin) from the pharmacist myself. Don’t know how I’d ever get her to prescribe tablets

The cream will only soothe external symptoms, it won't get rid of thrush in the vagina. For that you need to take a tablet or use a pessary.

Could you get an appointment with a different doctor or try to get an out of hours appointment through 111?
I’d seen the hv earlier that week and described my symptoms it was diagnosed with toddler changing his latch thrush was not mentioned. I’d realised what it was after being in agony feeding ( and I was only feeding at night) and was unable to sleep due to pain in my breasts.

I had seen a gp that week as well but they would only discuss the toddlers symptoms even though I explained I was having problems feeding him.
