I must top up but baby refusing bottle

11 week old DD had a GP check up yesterday and she sent us off to hospital to get her weight checked. She’s only gained 200g over her birth weight after taking 6 weeks to regain her birth weight. So we’re formula topping up after each feed.

Thing is she won’t accept a bottle! Just looking for tips or bottle recommendations. She’s so tiny I’m getting concerned and I know it’s super important t get some more calories into her!

If you can get a breast feeding ssuplementer set up use that. Otherwise try syringe. Bottle confuidion is real. Well done for BF. Have you tried anything to increase your milk surply, eg breast compression, blessed thistle, fenugreek, there is also a medication can't think of what is called. Check out Dr Jack newman website he is very useful.

Mam bottles always worked for us OP. Also, you can buy pre-made formula bottles with the teats included, they're pricey but would probably be worth a shot.

It’s not easy is it? The worry is what got to me, but as others have said above if you don’t want to continue then don’t put yourself under too much pressure.

La Leche and the breastfeeding peer support groups can help you stop feeding as well as support continuing feeding. Some are better than others, and some will help with mixed feeding too.

My little bundle has just been discharged Paed! So finally following a curve - taken a good few months longer than I’d have hoped! X
