(well a couple of shots actually ) will the milk (only 2oz) I've just expressed be "suitable" or should I just chuck in down the sink. I know this has probably been asked a 1000 times but I can't remember the answer

?????????????? dnt really know........have u got any stored that u can use instead

TheQueenOfQuotes · 28/07/2007 21:31

yes loads in the freezer - he's mix fed anyhow - so when he wakes up (whenever that might be - he's been asleep for ages now!) he'll be having FF anyhow.

Just didn't know whether 4 (actually could have been 5) shots of Vodka would adversely affect my milk

i would leave it for tonight, nowt to be bothered about tho..........everyone deserves to have a drink

MorocconOil · 28/07/2007 21:35

I wouldn't worry. It's a one-off and as long as you are not drinking excessively every day I am sure it will do no harm.

I regularly drank wine while bf my 3dc and it doesn't seem to have done them any harm.

Hi there, was about to ask a similar question - have had a glass of wine & really fancied another couple - ds has gone down for the night so I can - can't I?

Muddytwoshoes · 28/07/2007 21:40

He's exclusively bf'd & I don't express btw...

i went to a conference a few months ago by a professor Mary --something from dundee or aberdeen. The conference was drug alcohol and breastfeeding and she was basically stating that EVERYONE should be advised to breastfeed even heroine addicts etc as the benifits of BM far out weight the effects of anything passed thru the milk. Her view was that if you are stable enought to "actually breastfeed" then your milk will be fine. I will try and get the full details of the professor for you all.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 28/07/2007 22:15

that's good to hear - I've put the milk in the fridge and will add to it later

Excellent - shall pour myself another glass & raise it to Prof Mary

MorocconOil · 28/07/2007 22:24

Don't add vodka to it though

TheQueenOfQuotes · 28/07/2007 22:24

Alcohol leaves the blood (and your milk) at the rate of approx one unit per hour, starting from when you finished drinking

so if you had 2 doubles for instance, your milk will have alcohol in for about 4 hours after you stop drinking
