Baby sleeping longer hours - milk supply?

My 7 week old started sleeping for 5 hours at night, and now that's turned into more. I woke her to feed today after 6 hours because my boobs felt ready to burst.

If she continues sleeping for long stretches and I don't breastfeed or pump in between, what will happen to my supply? Should I set an alarm to pump to make sure it doesn't decrease?

any advice from your own experience would be much appreciated :)

You should be absolutely fine, by now your supply will start to coincide with what baby needs, so whilst night feeds are good at getting supply up, if you’re waking up very full I wouldn’t worry.

Obviously if you’re massively uncomfortable then express off in the night. But dd was doing similar stretches at this age and I had no issues at all.

That's so reassuring!! So the body realizes to keep making milk during the day but not so much at night?

I would love to have a continuous 5 hour sleep so it's amazing if I don't have to pump or wake her up!! Thank you both Grin

If your boobs are uncomfortable you can hand express a load onto a muslin or tissue.

Boobs are incredible at adjusting, it'll soon adapt. I knew a nurse whose shift pattern meant she'd hardly feed for a few days then be with her son constantly for a few days - her milk supply just adapted.

Hope it’s going well OP. Just to add if you are uncomfortable in the night just hand express a little bit (to relieve the discomfort). If you express a lot your body will get the message to produce more milk

Hope your lo is continuing those lovely long sleeps!
