DS is 15 weeks old. I love to breastfeed and desperately want to continue but he is now on his third ‘nursing strike’ since 11 weeks old and he has dropped a couple of centiles since this has been happening. I’ve tried to get help from the health visitor (she came twice in a week), the GP, breastfeeding helplines and been to see a breastfeeding support worker but nobody has been able to help. I’ve become an anxious mess and feel like I’m no longer enjoying my baby so I’ve come to the decision to stop breastfeeding and formula feed. I had been exclusively feeding expressed milk during these ‘strikes’ but that is also wearing me down as its all im doing when he naps. So my question is, how do I stop and let my milk supply reduce? I know that ideally it should be a gradual process but as my DS is completely refusing the breast other than during the night, how do I stop? Do I just keep expressing the milk but not as much until my supply reduces?
