Reflux advice please

Hello

My 5.5 month son old has reflux. I’ve tried almost everything to resolve this (cut out dairy, eggs, soya, hold upright after feeds etc) but because he only feeds for short bursts at a time (baby is ebf), and because he had poor weight gain, we’ve started giving him omeprazole.

We tried infant gaviscon in the past but it didn’t help. Baby won’t take the bottle.

Initially the omeprazole seemed to reduce the amount of sick, and make baby way less irritable, however did nothing for the short feeds. In any event, the effects seem to have worn off now and I feel like we are back to square 1.

Now that he is rolling baby just sicks up his feeds when on his tummy (even a couple of hours after feeding) and then gets upset. He loves rolling over so I don’t want to stop him from doing this but equally don’t want him to Chuck up his feed and get distressed.

We also started weaning (on medical advice) and have been doing first tastes for over a week. We’ve tried purées and finger food but baby doesn’t actually swallow anything and I’m now wondering whether we’ve started weaning too early.

In terms of weight, he went from 75th centile at birth to 9th. The dr has just told me that things might get better with weaning but I’m now worried this won’t be the case because he’s not swallowing anything.

I’m at my wits end and don’t know what to do anymore. I dread going out as feeding is a nightmare/erratic and baby gets distracted. Is there anything else I can do/try?

You need to get the dose adjusted as he gains weight, sounds like it's worn off.

My son is on Zantac. Was doing great then it all started again. We needed to Increase his dose. He's 5months and we started him on solids also. Took him make 3weeks before he started swilling anything. So just keep doing what you're doing
