Help! 10 week old only taking 2oz bottles

My 10 week old daughter has suddenly decided she will only take 2oz of milk every 3-4 hours, when before she would take 4oz (sometimes she would take 3oz and sometimes 5oz). She is literally the happiest most content, smiley baby, and is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies still... But I am worried she's not getting enough milk! Please soneone tell me that I'm getting my knickers in a twist over nothing - she seems her normal self, but it's just so odd that she's not feeding as well suddenly, so I'm stressing (hence why I'm posting on here at 4:30am...) 😱 She also brings up milk after every feed, but always has done and it has never bothered her. My mum says not to worry as she'll take what she needs, but I can't help but worry when over half her bottle is left... Argh so stressed!!

You're getting your knickers in a twist about nothing Smile

They go through these stages. Happy baby with plenty of wet/dirty nappies is what you're looking for. So that all sounds good.

Thank you so much RubberTreePlant I can't tell you how much I needed to hear that!! I think I knew that really, but it's so hard to stop my brain worrying when she's leaving loads of milk and I'm so tired I can't think straight 😴 Anyway thank you! Xxx

Can't wait for my baby to go through this phase. My LO is 1 month old and cluster feeds - she can happily take 15oz of expressed breast milk in one feed 😩
Checked with MW and HV and they just said if she's hungry then feed her!

DairyMilkForLife · 17/06/2019 10:44

Oh wow newmom sounds like your baby girl is a hungry little one! I guess it just goes to show that they're all different aren't they! Cluster feeding is normal at that age though and doesn't last forever, don't worry! ☺ Xxx

@DairyMilkForLife sorry i know this thread is a few months old but im going through a similar situation with my 10 week old - how long did this last for your little one please? Im worrying too

Hiya Tayel (sorry don't know how to tag you properly)... Tbh my little girl (now nearly 19 weeks) has continued to be rubbish with her milk feeds - sometimes she has random hungry days and will drink 5 or 6 oz bottles, but for the most part she only has 3 or 4 oz. I am guilty of trying to get her to drink more sometimes but she won't have it - she just gets upset or if she does take more it just comes back up. She is still havingwet and dirty nappies and is following her weight centile (she is 25th centile) and seems happy (except for bouts of teething...). So basically it hasn't actually got any better for us, sorry to say! But I guess I've just accepted she'll take what she needs and isn't a big milk drinker. My mum tells me I was never a big milk drinker either asa baby, but loved my solids apparently! So perhaps she's taking after me. Anyway i'll stop waffling on now - I would say as long as she's happy in herself, plenty of wet and dirty nappies and growing OK then you're fine and no need to worry. It's hard not to worry though isn't it when you can see all the milk they've left in their bottle! Xxx
