Doidy Cup - any tips on how to help ds (5 mo) to use it?

He is bf, and used to get an expressed (bottle) feed a day from dh. Now tho he has started to refuse the bottle. We were going to start him on a doidy cup anyway, and with bottle strike going full steam ahead, the need for this has become greater .
Any tips on how to teach him to drink from it? Should I let him lap from the cup like a cat, or pour a little milk into his mouth - or something else?

first let him play with it (empty) so he get used to the feel of it in his mouth
Then put a little milk in the bottom and hold it up to his mouth so a little bit it goes in very slowly. if he swallows you can up the speed and the quantities.
