Weaning before or after holiday?

Hello

We will be in Italy when our baby hits the 6 month mark. I was thinking of starting weaning early to help with the baby’s reflux (the paediatrician said we could start at 5 months if we wanted to) but was wondering whether it might be better practically to wait until after we come back from holiday? If we start at 5 months we will have been weaning for a month. We will be in Italy for 5 days.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Baby is ebf.

If you want to start early, and it is on medical advice, I can't see that it would matter doing it before your holiday.

Baby is unlikely to be eating that much after a month anyway, so will still be mostly bf.

If you plan on using BLW, then you can always give bits of pasta or bread, or lightly cooked veg or fruit from your meals. If planning on purees, just use pouches/jars whilst away. But be prepared for a lot of waste as they will probably only manage a spoonful of two at 3 each meal.

Make sure you have lots of bibs though Grin

Waited until back from France to start with ds. Ebf for a few weeks was so much easier!! Also he could sit but not crawl so could amuse him with great ease!!
