Leaving 8mo for 24 hours

I'm going on one of my best friend's hen weekends in a couple of weeks and will need to leave my 8mo for approx 24 hours (11am Saturday until around 11am the next day), and am trying to work our practicalities!

He's on 3 meals of solids a day and probably has around 4/5 milk feeds in the day and a couple overnight.

How much will I need to pump to cover this amount? I'm currently dairy free as baby has a recently diagnosed cows milk allergy so can't use any of the milk expressed previously that's in the freezer.

I just tried expressing and only got around 2oz, so getting enough for 24 hours seems like a mammoth task!

While I'm there, will I need to pump every time I'd usually feed? I'm going to be out and about so won't have access to a plug socket and comfy sofa every 3/4 hours. Are there any hand pumps that people would recommend?

Will not pumping overnight compromise my supply at this stage or will I finally be able to enjoy a full nights sleep?!

Hi @BringMeThatHorizon

I went away under similar circumstances when DS was 6mo so only just weaning on to food.

I pumped basically 2Litres (about 70oz) of milk for 9am Sat- 3pm sun. He was a greedy baby, mind! It took a long time to pump that amount of milk (i usually get 4oz a time), probably a good few week, and he finished it all a few hrs before I got home on the Sunday too!

I was busy having fun so only expressed maybe 3 times on the sat and once on the sun morning whilst I was on the hen do. I had an over supply though so wasn't worried about that side of things. I deffo didn't wake up to pump either! My boobs were like rocks in the morning though.

I had a medela hand pump but also hand expressed and used a Hakka suction/let down pump too.

How is your DC with taking the bottle? That was a whole other ordeal with my DS!

Lemme know if you have any more questions.
