Overcoming bottle refusal

I have been EBF my 5 month old DD for the past few months. At the very start we were combination BF and FF so that my DH could do some night feeds. However, after a few weeks she started refusing the bottle and hasn't taken it again since. I have therefore been EBF.

I would really like to get her to take a bottle again so that I can occasionally go out in the evening and/or get DH to do a night feed again. Apart from anything else I am absolutely exhausted and would like to have the option to skip a BF feed occasionally.

Whenever either of us tries with a bottle she screams the house down. She is literally inconsolable until she gets the boob. We've tried her on three different teats- Medela Calma, MAM and Tommy Tippee.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get her to take the bottle again please?

Give her no choice.

Due to finances, I had to go back to work when DD1 was 8 weeks old. OH was a stay at home dad, so she absolutely had to take the bottle or she'd starve, basically.

She screamed for almost the entire day the first day, bar an exhausted nap in the middle. The second day she was the same until early afternoon, but accepted the bottle eventually, and we never had any more issues.

It was awful, but there wasn't an alternative for us (or her). We had to do the same with DD2, but she was really casual about the whole thing.

Thanks Spanneroo. It may come to that! I'd like to avoid it though if I can Confused

Give her a cup. We found munchkin miracle 360 great & our daughter used it from around 3-4 months. She just refused a bottle no matter what we did & I tried everything.
Our boy took cold EBM only, it had to be straight from the fridge & he would only take via a MAM bottle. Even then he stopped all bottles around 9 months & also went to cup.
Hope that's of some help...it's tough being the only one able to feed . That gets better anyway when they start solids.
