Really want to stop breast feeding!!

I have been feeding my dd for 10 months now and I am really ready to stop. Big problem though - dd only sips water from a sports style bottle and only under duress! I am really stuck as to where to go from here. It's such a battle. I've just returned to work too and I'm finding it really hard to keep going. Any good ideas which don't involve starving dd until she takes a cup?!?!

give her e bit of squash short term!
she will love the sugar!

Thanks coddychops. I have tried squash but still not taking it very well. Is there a particular squash you could recommend?

How about a bottle of formula?

moominmummy · 13/09/2004 14:10

I guess that at 10 months she's on solids anyway?

That way she'll get what she needs while you're at work through food - fruit, veg. yoghurt etc.
If you get whoever's caring for her while you're working to persevere with formula she will take it eventually! My dd was the same at 5 months but again had started solids and would do without milk till I got home. Gradually breastfeeds tailed off and eventually she started taking formula from a bottle.

Poor you! How about leaving the milk as a drink but putting lots of formula in her food?

moominmummy · 14/09/2004 08:48

Currently she is only having a feed on waking, a little feed after breakfast, a little feed after tea and a bigger one before bed. Is this enough milk? I do really worry about the calcium level although at nursery she does have a yoghurt every afternoon she is there instead of a bottle. Should I use a bottle now or just keep perservering with a cup with spout? Sorry about all the questions. My HV is not particularly helpful.
