Hi all
Any bf experts out there? Just wanted to ask your views on something.
I am still bf my DD aged 2 (3 in Aug). She only nurses last thing at night and first thing in the morning.
Thing is, there are some dietary supplements I'd like to take, things like glucosamine for my aching joints and a supplement called 5-htp I want to try for PMS and related issues. I also wanted to take kelp for a while as an iodine boost as I tend to be a bit sluggish metabolism wise.
All these tend to say "do not take if breastfeeding". I am thinking that with a child of this age and the amount she feeds it's not likely to be an issue in terms of her ingesting vast amounts of the active ingredients.
Can anyone point me to any research (not necessarily on these particular supplements, as I suspect there won't be any) to support this view (or not)?
Ta
Claire
