Back to work and weaning

OK so the time has come for me to go back to the dreaded work. DD2 will be 6 and a half months by then. I have considered my options and it really wont be feasible for me to continue breastfeeding when I go back. YEsterday I tried to cut out the 1pm BF and replace it with formula but i ended up feeding her again myself 2 hours later as she hardly touched the bottle (she is used to a bottle cos she has one on the odd occasions she stays with my parents). Today again she only took about 2 and a half ounce of her bottle. I am using Dr Browns bottles and was wondering if perhaps the teat is too slow - any suggestions on what Dr B's teat to use for a 5month old?

she probably won't take a bottle from you because she knows she can get bm from you. is she going to nursery or childminders or your parents? you'll probably find she'll take the bottle better from then because she knows you aren't there. and even if she doesn't she may take water during the day either via a bottle or a cup. then she'll tank up with bm milk when she's at home, morning and night. how many days are you working?

I will be working 2 and a half days - Mon and Tues all day (7am til 6.30pm) and Wed til 2pm. Though she will be staying over with my parents on Sunday and Tuesday so that I dont need to lift her out of bed in the early winter mornings. I will be putting ehr to bed at my parents house though so bedtime feed wouldn't be a problem.
Got Dr B's number 3 teats today so will give them a try tomorrow.

DS not good at taking bottles before I went back to work (at 6 months). He still doesn't drink a lot of millk during the day (at 9 months) but feeds more in teh morning and at night. I express once or twice a day and all seems to be fine. You'll prob find he's OK with a bottle if you are not around

So when you went back to work what did your dc drink during the day? Bottles of milk or water?

Bottles of EBM and water/juice from a cup

You know you can still nurse at night. You can offer your baby formula during the day and breast milk at night if you want. It will be easier on your breast also. Once the baby and you have gotten use to the nighttime nursings only, then you can tapper it off slowly. It will make you being gone at work a little easier while you and the baby adjust.

At six and a half months I would suggest you limit the amount of juice and water. My doctor did not want me giving my DD water until after a year.
