Anti reflux milk - diaharrea

Hi, my 4 week old has been ff since 2 weeks old. Originally he was in hipp milk , he took it well but brought up quite a lot of milk- never bothered by it but even after keeping him upright for half hour after feeds as soon as he was laid down he would bring up milk. I decided to try the hipp anti reflux formula. First couple of days were great - barely any milk brought up. Then he started having loads of explosive runny nappies, sometimes 8+ a day. Annoyingly it has been brilliant at stopping the milk coming up though! Stuck with it for a week just to see if it was an initial reaction before it would settle but it’s not and he’s still having extemely watery poo, multiple explosions a day. I was of the understanding that anti reflux formula generally caused the opposite - constipation!
I’ve now just stayed back on the normal hipp milk, as I felt so awful for him having so much nappy changes. My question is - are all anti reflux formulas the same - ie would cause him to have diahrrea? Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do. It’s either deal with multiple explosive nappies or multiple episodes of milk coming up - is there no happy medium?!

Comfort milk does tend to do this I praised the lord for elastic bits on my sons trousers when this happened to him Envy

Yep! I had this with my son when he had it for a bit, what seems like a lifetime ago now! From memory is it only recommended for a few weeks? I think I used one tub then reverted to the usual. He seemed to have been helped by that bit he had and the poos improved a bit! :) x

Sorry, should have added, this was when he was on Cow and Gate comfort milk, so I think it could be a side effect of all the brands :/

We swapped from normal to anti reflux hipp milk and also found that initially we had lots of explosive nappies. It did settle dow after a couple of weeks though. Maybe try mixing both powders - half of each ie. 2 scoops and 2 scoops for 4 oz. We've done that to try and wean off the reflux formula as hes got used to having the thicker milk.
