He’s too congested with a dreadful virus. Saline spray terrified him and made him cry and get more snotty. It’s like thick green superglue and he is pouring it out.
Can’t latch on
Will take a little expressed milk in a fast flow bottle
Off food but is hungry just can’t seem to swallow that well but will sip water and nappies are wet
I’m worried as I know he needs fluid but also the antibodies in breastmilk. Do I just keep expressing and hope it clears it’s been 48 hours now 😔 he’s 1

You've tried calpol?

And what about bm frozen in ice cube tray?

QforCucumber · 15/04/2019 17:48

At 1 will he not drink from a cup? Also the calpol plug in is a godsend. And a bowl of boiling water with some vicks dissolved in in whatever room you're in

skincareAdvice · 15/04/2019 19:22

Yes have tried the calpol plug in
He has breastmilk and usually 1 bottle a day of toddler milk and water in a sippy cup. He’s been unwell a lot and I am just pleased he usually accepts a bottle ! It seems easier for him at the moment and he seems to only want milk from a bottle and water from a cup if I change it he won’t accept

It’s the consistency of the mucous that’s the issue I’ve never seen anything like it it’s like glue and the quantity is enormous it’s just blocking up everything for him and he’s struggling. I have a nasal aspirator but Given how he reacted to the saline spray I don’t think I’d get anywhere near him with it

Try the old fashioned saline drops (not spray) and hold him with his head tipped right back / upside down. Keep him there for a minute to let it absorb. He won't like it but it might work better than the spray. I always found them a bit feeble.
