Help! Frustrated baby?!

Hi. DS is 3 weeks old today and is breastfed. He has gained weight brilliantly since birth but seems to be constantly hungry. Health visitor said some babies are greedier than others! Yesterday I expressed 5oz milk for the first time and gave DS half in bottle in the morning and the other half in the evening, carried on feeding from the breast in between. At about 10pm last night when I was feeding him from the breast he got very frustrated, pulling at my nipple with his mouth and banging his head against my chest, he was also kicking and then ended up crying. This has continued throughout the night with him crying and getting very frustrated at the breast and he is still the same this morning. It’s breaking my heart. I’ve read that after a baby has been given a bottle they can prefer the faster flow and immediacy of milk and hence the frustration, and that they may refuse the breast completely. Is that what’s happening here? Any advice? If I can’t breastfeed anymore I will be gutted, I only introduced a bottle at the advice of the midwife so that he doesn’t reject it later down the line.

Sometimes in the evening your supply is lower and baby gets frustrated. The other thing that can happen is they are due a growth spurt so feed endlessly to try and boost your supply.

Do you have a breastfeeding group nearby? They can be very helpful for this stage

We went through similar, a lot of it was clusterfeeding, which helps to establish milk supply. I think our major problem was DS being overtired. Took me ages of tracking sleep to figure that one out!
