BF Baby taken dislike to 1 boob

Not sure if anyone has experienced this, but our 4 week old DD has all of a sudden taken a real dislike to my left boob and messes about/uncomfortably wriggles when she does finally latch on. At first I thought she maybe wasn't actually hungry but she then searches for a feed and goes on the right boob perfectly fine. So also wondered if she was uncomfortable but we've tried normal hold, rugby ball hold and laying down. Either way she just ends up unhappy and either won't feed or cries. I'm not sure what the problem is, am I missing something? Any advise or thoughts welcome!

Is she happy to turn her head to that side otherwise? I would suspect some neck tension making it uncomfortable...

Likely cause - neck ache or ear ache lying in that side. Less likely cause something wrong with that boob eg a blocked duct, mastitis coming, some other reason it tastes wrong - do check yourself regularly for lumps and bumps just as you are meant to (and like me probably never do!). If you do find s lumpy bit it’s probably a blocked duct, so massage the he’ll out of it (ouch!) while expressing or feeding.
Meanwhile, be kind to yourself and keep in mind the supply/demand nature of feeding - your preferred boob might get bigger, but your LO will still get milk!

Once she does latch on, will she feed?

Mine is the same. Then noticed she only liked to look one way when lying down or sleeping. Took her to osteopath who confimed she is a bit still in her neck. It’s much better now, but have ended up with one EE boob and one saggy B 🙁

Thanks everyone. I managed to get her to have a good feed off it this morning since posting this which was good! She does naturally tilt her head to the left, but when I feed her I try to hold her on her side, head forward to the breast (but she does tilt back over the feed). My left is also the bigger of the two and is really hard and lumpy when full so am now wondering about the blocked ducts. I'll try giving it a massage!

My daughter did that. The midwife was unconcerned. I know friends babies that did that also! It's a pain, but as long as you look into the reasons people have suggested and nothing is wrong, it can be natural x

Go on kellymom website for info on blocked diced, I’ve forgotten half if it! I think hot flannels and warm showers might be good, and massage with like a comb motion from outside in toward the nipple to try and encourage the milk down
