How much does your nine month old eat each meal?

I see pictures of how much to offer but most of what I offer goes on the floor or onto the bib. How much should a nine month old be actually swallowing?
Can I have some examples please?
(DC refuses spoon so finger food examples would be what I'm most interested in)

It totally depends to be honest on what kind of mood he’s in, now much I’ve breastfed him that day and how much effort I can be bothered to make!

To give you an example - today for dinner my 9 month old had:

  • Ella’s Kitchen Lentil Bake - I started spoon feeding it to him and then he got inpatient and used his hands to shovel it in. Realistically I would say he ate two thirds of the pouch.
  • Three strips of cucumber - he chewed them all but probably only actually ate half of the flesh
  • Ditto with two giant strawberries cut in half
  • Small pot of homemade apple and pear purée - I spoon fed him this so he ate the lot

To be honest, I wouldn’t really worry at this age. They should still be getting a lot of calories from milk so as long as they are still having that and at least playing with/trying food, I wouldn’t personally pay much attention to how much actually got swallowed.

Thank you. Yes I'm very much holding onto the idea that food should be fun at this stage. But it took us quite a while to get going (just wasn't interested at the start) and I'm worried we'll still be on tiny amounts by 12 months, which is in my mind the 'deadline' to have this sorted! Two thirds of an Ella's pouch sounds amazing! I would love to get to this stage.

Tonight dinner was a nibble on the end of a baby corn, a nibble on some broccoli, a nibble on the end of a piece of chicken and licking/playing with the yoghurt lid. Probably a couple of teaspoons worth in total Confused

Mine’s a pretty good eater. Last 24hrs:

Breakfast - 1/2brioche, small fromage frais, 5 grapes
Lunch - thick slice of cheese bread, buttered and cut into fingers. 1/2 pack of Pom bears, 4 stamp size pieces of cheddar
Snack - 1/2 banana, 1 x baby biscotti
Dinner - pouch of Ella’s cottage pie, rice cake, pot of fromage frais
