Hi,
Third son is just coming up to 4 weeks, great feeder so far. Had exceeded birth weight by day 5. Would like to think I was a bit of an old hand at feeding as other two sons fed until 3 years but having some issues in the last few days.
Had loads of milk, probably over supply tbh and he was feeding alternate boobs every 3 hours or so. Then I got a blocked duct on Thursday, managed to clear it quite quickly but had the expected drop in supply on Friday, made sure to offer both breasts at every feed to increase supply back up in the one boob, but what's happened now is that because he was getting less from each feed as only one boob working, he's going only an hour between feeds and boobs never really fill up enough to give him one of those full belly feeds he was having before the blocked duct. He's having loads of wet nappies but def isn't swallowing for very long at each feed and isn't settling as long in between, prob an hour or less. The last two days, I've just fed, fed, fed, switching sides, breast compressions etc and I've started fenugreek but just feel like supply has tanked and isn't really recovering. Any advice? I know supply does regulate but never had it so early on and seems odd that this has all kicked off after the blocked duct.
Considering supplementing but haven't as yet, know this might make matters worse!!!
Do I just persevere???

Don’t supplement as you will produce less. Breasts don’t fill up but produce milk as needed by the baby and any change in demand is quickly compensated for by the breast.

Don’t worry about his swallowing - he is cluster feeding to build your supply back up. As long as he is doing plenty of wet nappies he is getting what he needs. Just let him feed as and when he wants.

...and your supply will match what he needs!

Could he be cluster feeding?
