4.5 week breastfed nappy question

Hi there

Probably not the right board but I thought some of you mums might be able to help.

My baby is 4 and a half weeks old, exclusively breastfed and he hasn’t had a poo in two days... lots of wet nappies... no signs of distress over normal newborn behaviour.... should I be worried?

I’m feeding him regularly. Have done bicycle legs and rubbed his tummy, also tried a bath - no poo.

Any advice?

If there's no other signs he's in any discomfort and he's happy and alert with plenty of wet nappies, going 10 times a day or once in 10 days can become the norm for EBF babies. My own used to poo at every feed but definitely had a few days without a poo which made me worry too!

Pop his best clothes on and nip to the shops, that will almost guarantee he'll go! Grin

Are you getting 5 to 6 wet nappies every day? There’s some information here on how wet the nappies should be Smile

As PP said, it is normal to go up to ten days without a poo for an ebf baby. The milk is perfectly designed for the baby's digestive system so there's very little waste to make a poo out of iyswim?

My little one went every 7 ish days. Like pp said as long as there are wet nappies and no obvious pain it can be totally normal Smile

Thanks everyone we have tons of wet nappies, one every couple hours in line with his feeding.

Thanks for the reassurance!!
