Breastfeeding and periods

I am ebf my 4 month old. He feeds 2-3 times during the night and I feed in demand. I had a bleed last month but it was light and without much cramping. However it’s about 4 weeks later and I feel it coming again, this time really painful cramping and the usual bloating I used to get.
I didn’t think you were supposed to get periods when breastfeeding. Particularly so soon and when doing it exclusively (no top ups).

Some do. I've heard of quite a few ebf mums who still have periods.

I still had periods whilst ebf although irregular and very heavy.

I got mine back around the 4/5 month

Mine have come back. Dd is now 6 months. Had periods when she was 4 and 5 months old and think another one may happen any day. Am ebf, was hoping to have no periods for longer 🙁

I ebfd and got my period back at about 6 months, around the time I started weaning ds....

My period came back 6 weeks pp!
Still bf daughter now at almost 2, she was feeding through the night until 19 months.

And I'm still bfing at 3.4y...

Everyone is different. This is why people get pregnant so soon after birth because they think they can't!

I managed to get away with 7 months with ds1 but only 2 with ds2 - both ebf for 6 months so go figure

I got mine back at 4 months despite ebf & by the time DS1 was 7 months old I was pregnant again.

My first I got eight months. My second I got three. I was not impressed.

Quite a few women get one period randomly then no more for many more months. You might get lucky that way!

I EBF my DS and got a full period 32 days (my usual cycle length) after his birth. It was shit.

Currently got a 4 week 1 day old and hoping history will not repeat itself!
