Bottle feeding abroad (5month old)

Hi all, my wife and I have travelled to lanzarote with our 5 month old girl. She’s bottle fed.

Coming from Scotland we have great water, no issue or residue once boiled etc.

However, were reluctant to use the Spanish water out the tap for boiling.... so are likely going to buy bottled water to boil?

Is this safe? I’ve test boiled a bottle of Evian and it’s left a white dusty residue floating in the water - likely calcium. Is this safe to Mix with her aptamil??

Anyone got advice for us? Were kinda getting in a fankle over something we probs shouldn’t!!

Thanks

I’ve been travelling to mainland Spain since DS was 4 months old
We just used boiled tap water. The water there is no less or more trustworthy than the water in The UK.
Pretty sure it’s the same for Lanzarote

Have you had any white cloudy residue in the water after boiling?

If you want to use bottled water I believe you should use spring water or purified tap water, rather than mineral water.

Use bottled water with the lowest sodium content you can find. Boil it before making up the formula

Did you check the kettle? Does it need descaled?

You can buy special bottled water for babies in Lanzarote (look for the baby picture), most supermarkets will sell it. Use this for all of your needs

What do you think people that actually live in Lanzarote or nearby use to bottle feed their babies?

weebarra · 21/02/2019 21:45

Yes, look for bottles with a pic of a baby on it, means there is less sodium.

Lanzarote is not the same as mainland Spain. It uses desalinated sea water in the taps which may not taste good. From what I've read its recommended to drink bottled water
