Dropping the night feed

Hi,

DD is 7.5 months and has been formula fed for about a month now. She currently wakes once a night for a feed. I'm wondering whether she still really needs this feed or whether it's more likely to be habit.

Is she too young to be weaned off this feed? How do you know if it's habit versus need?

I'm also worried about over feeding her. She's on 3 meals a day and then has bottles at 7.30am ish, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and then the night feed. She'll usually have about 6-7ozs per feed. Does this seem right or a bit much?

Thanks in advance x

Babies this age don't need to feed in the night if They are getting all of their calories in the day. If they are feeding in the night then you need to wean her off it gradually, perhaps cutting it down every few days, then she should naturally take more in the day. If you go cold turkey you might end up with a hungry baby yelling for aged.

Could you do a dream feed at 10-11pm instead of the night feed.

Mine is 6.5 months and still wakes at 10 for a feed. He devours it so I assume he needs it. Has very similar feeding schedule. He has milk feed at 7, 10/11am, 2pm and 5.30pm then 10pm. 7oz per feed. Also gets solids 3 times a day.
