Low supply after stomach flu?

Hi everybody,

Two days ago I suddenly and violently became ill with the stomach flu. I couldn't physically feed my son but managed to pump him a bottle for my partner to give him early hours (lo was asleep). The next day I fed my son a couple of times however my boyfriend's stepmum gave him some formula we had in the cupboard without waking me for a feed! We only brought the formula whilst I was pregnant in case we ever needed to use it. I was really sick and needed to be woken for feeds, she knew I was exclusively BF. Ever since my supply has been non existent and my lo seems to just get agitated whilst feeding. He doesn't seem content.
I've been feeding him as often as I can to try up my supply and I'm just now managing to eat normally again and hold fluids down. When will my supply go up again and how can I help? My son seems so agitated and I feel hopeless because I can't seem to give him what he needs. My boobs are like completely empty?

Can you spend some time in bed together doing skin to skin to reestablish your supply? How old is your son? I’m guessing MIL didn’t pace feed him the bottles so he’s probably getting stroppy on the boob as he has to work for the milk. Try not to panic and make sure you’re eating/drinking as normally as possible. Try to avoid any more formula if you can and just feed, feed, feed.
