I am a first time mum to be in 6 weeks. Already know I will be bottle feeding. Any have any preferences on the milk formulas above? I am not sure which to use.

Thanks

We started om SMA and DD had problems with wind and constipation so changed to Cow and GAte and everything got better

Sma upset both my kids but I think the formula has changed since then. Cow and Gate was fine though - and actually ds2 did bettert on farleys as he got bigger

yea i use cow & gate too. i have heard from a lot of mums that sma always seems to be linked with bad windiness. good luck btw!! not long 4 u now!!

my dd was fine on sma 3 years ago and ds has done fine on aptamil this time round. It depends which one suits your lo best - not all milks suit all babies so you may have to try a few

I started with SMA - and then moved to HIPP as they are organic. To be honest not sure there is that much difference between any of the makes - pick one and stick with it for a while and see how you get on. Good luck!

I'm an Aptamil fan so completely contradicting all of your other advice here!!
Best of luck

yep, another vote for Aptamil, both mine have been very happy with it.

I picked C&G first time round cuz I liked the name and it was fine for DS - but we switched to the "hungry" version of SmA within a few months as it stayed down better (he had reflux). Then realised that baby Gaviscon and hungry formula = cement so switched back to 'normal' milk but Aptamil. TBH I noticed no difference between SMA, C&G, or Aptamil, except that Aptamil come in containers that are more user-friendly (not cans!)....which may sound trivial but after the 500th bottle trust me the details become important!

Good luck!

i liked aptamil with dd but with ds it used to run through him and switched to cow and gate.

i do not like sma and gave my friends baby very bad constipation

MatNanPlus · 02/07/2007 18:20

Not to keen on SMA for the constipation issues.

Aptamil is good BUT very popular so not always available in the shop when you want it.

Cow & Gate is good and not as popular as Aptamil so more readily available.

Never had a problem with SMA gold.
