Introducing formula & constipation

Hi everyone! I am hoping to be able to give my 3 month old DD formula from time to time. She has been solely breastfed up until now. The main reasons behind my thinking is that there are a few things I have coming up where I will need to leave DD with her dad. I usually pump to cover feeds if I can’t be there but on the odd occasion I have left her, she comfort feeds from the bottle meaning the amount I have expressed goes very quickly. I can’t find the time to express a huge amount to keep in stock so for this reason I want to be able to give DD formula on these occasions. I have a tub of Aptamil however I have tried her twice with this formula and both times have resulted in 1/2 days of non stop crying and constipation.

Can anyone advise me, is there a certain way I should be introducing these feeds? I should add, I don’t want to give her formula on a regular basis, but maybe for a whole day of feeds once or twice a month.

TIA

Once you've opened the tub it's only ok for 4 weeks before it needs throwing away. If you are only going to give occasional feeds then you might be better buying individual cartons
