Aptamil - is this normal?

My son has been on SMA from birth (now 6 weeks) and has been having some digestive issues. Yesterday, after a couple of GP trips and hospital admissions for constipation, we changed to aptamil on the recommendation of our health visitor.

He seems ok on it so far, no poos and quite flatulent but it's only been 12 hours. It seems to take him a while to get through a bottle.

In comparison to the SMA it seems much thicker and very frothy. It also doesn't seem to dissolve well. Is this normal? So far I'm unimpressed...

I've heard a few complaints about the new aptamil formulation and it leaving lumpy bits. Maybe Hipp organic or cow and gate? Or Aldi mamia?

Will have to have a look and see what is easily obtainable locally, we don't have an Aldi so it'll ideally be something I can get in Tesco or Superdrug, the next town is 15 miles of country roads away.

We'll persevere until Friday when we see the health visitor again and should know by then if it's the SMA causing his issues and then may try something else

We gave up on aptamil because it doesn't dissolve properly.we used hipp organic for a while (which was good) then changed to kendamil, although that is not so widely available. As far as I know, aptamil is the only one that has this issue of not dissolving properly, which is weird as its the most expensive!

Hi I am currently feeding my 3 week old apitmal after every feed she seems very fussy, I struggle to get wind up from her, she does settle but seems uncomfortable like she has a pain in her tummy, I have changed bottles and use room temperature water was she was worse with warmer water and other bottles am just wondering if i should now look to change her milk?, hv just keeps saying change her bottles again and midwifes gave said she had colic then another said reflux, i give her infacol but she doesn't have all the symptoms of colic and doesn't scream for hours through the night etc and she isn't being sick so I don't think it's reflux, any advice ? I am a 1st time mam and hate seeing my baby uncomfortable with her tummy thank you

Have you tried the ready made formula? I know it’s expensive but great for constipation.
Also keep hearing the hipp organic is quite gentle.

Hi yeah tried the ready made stuff and she is the same really with those, I don't know if she is still trying to get used to the milk but she is 3 weeks old now and she is more unsettled at night, she is still having dirty nappies just looks like she struggles with doing them, I will have a look at the hipp organic as I think the next step is to change her milk thank you
