No poop in 7 days

My ebf baby hasn't pooped in a week! A quick google suggests this is okay but I'm still a bit nervous. Have given tummy massage, have bicycled legs. Not sure what else.

She's 7 weeks and passing lots of smelly gas.

Worry or not to worry?

Not to worry (assuming no other changes in her behaviour) - not unusual for an ebf baby and experienced this with both of my dcs.

Thank you! No she seems happy enough although she does spend a wee bit of time each day straining. No other changes just a worrying mother Grin

It just seems so bizarre.

I'm having this too.

When they do eventually go is it likely to be a poonami? 🙈

usernotfound0000 · 02/01/2019 17:22

DD2 is 8 weeks and bf, she seems to have settled into a pattern of every 4 days. On day 4 she does a lot of straining and groaning before she goes. And most often it is a poonami when it happens so just have to hope we're not out - she's like a ticking time bomb!

MustBeAWeasly · 02/01/2019 17:34

Dd used to go every week/week and a half. Get ready for the poonani!!

It's actually not as bad as you might think so much of the breast milk is exactly what they need so there isn't as much waste.
We're two months into weaning and I'm struggling with the more frequent poos 😑

OoohAyyye · 02/01/2019 17:36

Not to worry. Ebf DD1 went two weeks without a poo once. You can imagine the explosion!

blueskiespls · 02/01/2019 17:39

I had a gap of 10 days then a poo explosion ! Health visitor and mw said it was ok for ebf baby.
I'll never forget that poo though, I remember thinking what a relief for my ddGrin

I was going to say the same - be prepared for it because when it comes it will be impressive! My ebf boy used to wait several days then go for it in a big way, usually on the changing mat when his nappy was off. It was always really thick, like a paste, and just kept on coming.

icclemunchy · 02/01/2019 18:26

At this age I wouldn't worry too much.

If you want to hurry things along I always found a lovely white baby grow, popping out without a spare nappy because you'll only be a min and popping them in the bath did the trick 😁

LaurieMarlow · 03/01/2019 07:23

Totally normal, both mine did this.

When it eventually comes though. OMFG.

TooMinty · 03/01/2019 07:25

Both of mine did this, one horrific nappy per week. Usually just as we were about to leave the house...
