Cow & Gate Reflux

Hello. My DS is 10 weeks old today and it’s been a turbulent 10 weeks. Initially, after hours of excessive crying we self diagnosed colic and started using infacol & Aptamil Colic & Constipation. Over the last few days we’ve seen a huge increase in sick (straight after feed & even up to 2 hours after a clear smelly liquid) and difficulty in taking some bottles. He’s also gone from sleeping 4-5 hours at night to waking hourly for comfort. This is not like him.

He has been on gaviscon but I don’t think it’s making a difference at all. I’m tempted to try Cow & Gate reflux but don’t want to cause him any upset.

Any experiences similar? Please help!!

My DD was exactly the same, I could've wrote your post.

We changed to the C&G anti-reflux milk and seen a huge change within a couple of days Smile

Only downside was that the thicker milk caused quite bad constipation (blood in stools) but a trip to the GP and a prescription for some lactulose sorted that. We were able to stop using the lactulose once her stomach had matured enough to digest the milk and she's now 8 months and still on that formula.

Oh thank you so much for your post. You’ve given me some hope. Did she have any other symptoms other than the constipation? I’ve been so worried about changing his milk but I’m literally at the end of my tether! So glad you managed to get her sorted x

Nope just the constipation.

Her reflux was so bad our routine went like this - feed at 1am, change her nappy while she screamed because I couldn't lay her down after her feed. Feed her, burp her, sit her up for 20-30 mins, put her back in her Moses basket about 2.30am. Then again at 4am. Put her down at 5.30am. Then up again at 7.00am. It was hard and we were exhausted.

I remember when we'd changed her milk being able to feed her much quicker because the milk wasn't causing her reflux discomfort while she fed, then laying her straight down after and actually getting a couple of hours actual sleep between feeds because she wasn't feeding, we were all much happier.

I know it's scary but I mean this sincerely - have confidence in what you think you should do for the best. I wish I'd changed her milk sooner.

My baby was the same and we put her on SMA comfort, it's not thicker but it is alot smoother...hence less air bubbles and less wind for her, it also hasn't caused constipation. We have also put her on colief and we have a very happy baby
