Week old bf baby still really windy - tips?

Posted a few days ago in a manic state! Feeling better now but DD is still really suffering from wind, and seems to be worse with one breast.

Been to bf support group who think it might be an overactive let down and recommeded bfing in a reclined position, and expressing a bit of milk off before feeding. We are giving her infacol before feeds, and winding her for quite a while after feeding, but she is still suffering.

She is feeding and pooing well, but can be quite gulpy.

Any advice?

Hi bumper,

Some babies are just very windy methinks so I reckon you are doing everything right. Some people find Infacol works but I didn't find it any difference. What helped my first baby was trying different winding positions -over my knee with knee in tummy was good and she also liked to be belly down on my arm (tiger in the tree hold) after a feed.

Keep going with the fast let down advice and give her a bit of time to settle into life. I bet she'll stop being such a windbag soon enough.

Keep attending the support group too if you can - one week in and bfing is still establishing so hang on in there, you're doing a great job.
