Hi
just got Medela swing pump , it says to boil for 5 mins but does anyone put in an electric steriliser ? Also didn't find anything in the booklet about cleaning the tubing , does anyone do this ?

Any other tips to make my life easier ?

Thanks! Smile

Doesn’t need sterilised, just a wash with hot water and a bit of dairy then rinsed.

I dumped all of the washable bits into a Milton cold water steriliser after washing them. Then just got them out when I was ready to pump. Need to change the water and new tablet every 24 hours but it's not too bad.. the bottles went in there too. Worked for us! Every now and then I rinsed out the tube but not that often.

Tubing only needs cleaned if it has visible milk or condensation in it. It's a nightmare getting the water all out when you wash it (I think you can run the pump with just tube attached to get wee drops out) but if you've washed them, whipping them gets some of the water out and is quite good fun...

As Imissgin said, washing in hot soapy water is fine. If you want to sterilise the bits you are fine to put them in the steriliser.

I boiled it for the initial sterilisation (when it was new) didn't do anything to the tube.

Just gets washed in hot soapy water now
