Cluster feeding?

DD is two weeks old, EBF. Feeding going well and she’s a dream of a baby, sleeps 3+ hours at a stretch and settles well. Last couple of nights I think she’s been having cluster feeds, gets quite cross and screamy and wants boob every 15-20 minutes or so. Lasts for round 2 hours, sometimes she only nurses for 5 min or so, falls asleep and falls off my boob. Then she’s back to her normal rhythm of 3-4 hours sleep and 10-20+ min per boob. I think she’s getting enough as she’s got plenty of wet nappies and often has a little milk drool after a feed 😍 but perhaps something else is happening? I wind her and doesn’t seem anything else is distressing her.

Is this cluster feeding or something else? Will this go on indefinitely or more likely to be during the early weeks? X

All of this sounds perfectly normal and it won’t last forever Smile

Have a read of Cluster Feeding and Fussy Evenings and Breatfeeding Your Newborn, what to expect in the early weeks. Are you managing to get to a BFing Support Group? They are usually good for meeting other local Bfing Mums and getting an idea of what’s normal Smile

Congratulations on your new LO too Thanks

From what you’ve said she sounds like she’s doing really well Smile
